Entry into Australia
Unless you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, you will need a visa to enter Australia. All other passport holders must apply for a visa before leaving home. Visit www.immi.gov.au for more information.
Booking your travel to Perth
Perth International Airport (PER) is serviced by 23 airlines and is located 11km east of the CBD. There are four terminals at the airport. To see which terminal your airline uses please click here. A free terminal transfer bus provides transport between terminals.
Transport from Perth Airport
Taxis are available from all terminals and the 20-30 minute journey to the city centre costs approximately AU$45 – AU$55.
The Connect Shuttle bus operates between multiple city centre locations and the forecourt of T3 and takes 45-60 minutes. If arriving or departing from T1 or T2 then take the terminal transfer bus to T3 (allow approximately 15 minutes). T3 and T4 are within walking distance of each other. Perth has a Mediterranean climate so for most of the year, the weather is fine and sunny, and even during the short mild winter the sun is often shining. Perth’s average temperature for August is 13°C.
Currency / Banking
The currency used is the Australian dollar. Banking hours are usually 0930 -1600hrs, Monday to Friday. Automatic Teller Machines are well spread throughout Perth business district. International credit cards are accepted throughout the country banks, most hotels and city stores.

Dress for all scientific sessions is smart casual. Dress for the Gala Dinner will be advised once the theme is finalised.
Australia uses a 240 volt 50 cycle system with 3 pin flat plugs.
Goods and Service Tax
Goods and Services in Australia are subject to a 10% tax (GST). This tax is usually included in the price and if not, it is clearly stated.
The Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) enables travellers to claim a refund of the goods and Services Tax (GST) and wine equalisation tax (WET) paid on some goods bought in Australia. Visit the Australian Customs website for details about what you can claim and how.
It is strongly recommended that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance to cover the duration of your visit to Australia.
Name badges will be given to all delegates on registration. We ask that you wear your badge at all times, including social functions. Entry tickets will be given for all social and optional events.
The Convention Centre Car Park is accessible via Mill Street, Mounts Bay Road and the Riverside Drive off ramp of the Mitchell Freeway.
Early bird parking is available before 7am for AU$22.70 (maximum 10hrs stay). Alternatively parking costs AU$5.80 an hour or AU$23.80 for 10hrs Monday – Friday and AU$16.80 for 10hrs (between 6am and 6pm) on weekends. After 10hrs the hourly rate applies.
Public Transport in Perth
Perth has an excellent transport system serving the entire metropolitan area. The Central Area Transit (CAT) bus system provides a free, scenic link between the foreshore and precinct hotels, shops, restaurants, museums and cinemas in and around the City Centre.
Bus stands closest to PCEC are located in the Busport adjacent to PCEC and also on William Street. Weekday services run every 5 – 15 minutes from 6.50am to 6.20pm WST. Please refer to the Transperth website at www.transperth.wa.gov.au for further information, including timetables and maps.
The closest train station is ‘Elizabeth Quay’ (Corner of William Street and The Esplanade). For information about public transport, visit www.transperth.wa.gov.au or call 13 62 13 anytime. Perth’s public transport is operated by Transperth.
